EPL: Carragher names player deserving to be in Liverpool’s squad after 4-1 win over Norwich

Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher has named Defender Joel Matip as the Reds player that deserves to be in Jurgen Klopp’s squad after their Premier League 4-1 win over Norwich City on Friday night.

Goals from Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Divock Origi gave the UEFA Champions League winners all three points against Norwich.

Gomez started ahead of Matip alongside Van Dijk in Liverpool’s victory over the promoted side.

But Carragher now believes Matip, who was impressive for Liverpool last season, should have started ahead of Gomez.

“Matip deserved to be in [the Liverpool FC team],” Carragher told Sky Sports.

“I think he was harshly done by. On the back of his performance last season, he deserved to be him.

“Maybe if it was a tough away game, Gomez might have been at full-back.”

Liverpool will take on Southampton in their next Premier League fixture next weekend.
